Where did the family dinner go!?!

Posted by on Apr 24, 2013 in Thoughts | 0 comments

Picture 004I buy no means consider myself traditional, in fact most of my time is spent being anything but. I blame my rebellious generation, But I find myself asking people, and I will ask you….Where did the family dinner go?!? I can remember the whole process from my childhood, no matter where you were or what you were doing….”you better be home for dinner!” It was the time for catching up with everyone’s day, having a couple laughs with your parents and siblings (which looking back, was in itself funny because the second the dishes were cleaned someone was in trouble for throwing something at someone, because they said something! haha you know exactly what I’m talking about!)

I have found over the years that this ‘tradition’ needs to come back in my family, and I only wish I had the sense to start it from the beginning. After a long hard look at my dinning space I realized that technology is everywhere…Theirs a TV their a Ipad here, My solution is a dinner area where it is a haven for together time. This dinner area in the picture is perfect ‘restaurant’ booth style that would be not only comfortable but a nice change from normal table.

Master Bath Envy

Posted by on Apr 19, 2013 in Thoughts | 0 comments

Picture 029After a trip to the my friends new home, I found myself wanting more! To be clear…I am not talking about starting my mid-life crises, for which I have totally earned and will have eventually. I’m talking about seeing their master bath in all its jacuzzi tub, walk in shower, double sink GLORY! Only to return home to my “standard” bath I refer to as my master bath…HA! Their is nothing master about it…But fear not I’m not going to try and have one of those “I’m going to tear out my bathroom all by myself” moments. I’m calling my go to guys at The Bainbridge Crew in Charlotte!

Finances and homework!

Posted by on Apr 18, 2013 in Thoughts | 0 comments

Picture 035I consider myself a fairly organized person, not sure if any of you do, but i think its one of my better qualities. Well that and my ability to  save a dollar. After numerous times of trying to do my daily finances while balancing my child’s homework assignments, with it ending that I’m missing a utility bill cause it got turned into confetti and glued to the project my son was working on. Great he got an A+ but know I have to hold for an hour just to pay the cable bill. I came up with a solution that wouldn’t envelope my kitchen table getting taken over on a daily. I have a silly little space in my kitchen that a hutch or small could go into, you know the spot…to small to put a BLANK but to big to put a BLANK. I had a small side by side desk put in!!! Brilliant right! side but side, I have drawers for all the glue sticks and glitter that school can throw at me. Also space for me to have monthly bills, extra checkbooks, and bonus none of them will get colored on or fed to the dog.  I get to sit side by side and do my “homework” while my son does his.

Weather you think me a Charlotte genius or just think it’s a good idea, give The Bainbridge Crew a call, and make the smart choice.

To patio or not to patio…

Posted by on Apr 15, 2013 in Thoughts | 1 comment

It seems that the task of opening the pool comes up sooner and sooner every year. Before you know it, it seems that your putting away your sweaters and them BAM…time to open the Picture 079pool. When it comes to opening the pool here in the Charlotte area, its not just take the cover off and add chemicals (that would be nice right?) nope cut the lawn, kill the fire ant mounds that have spouted up faster than the crab grass making its home on what used to be a green lawn…UGGGG! This year I’m eying a end to the madness…what could end the routine you ask?!? A stone patio…. not more cutting grass, killing mounds…I really WILL be one of those cover off, pour chemicals kind of people.  It will be nice to enjoy my pool instead of looking at it like a temper tantrum throwing toddler in the middle of a superstore! Patio here I come!!!!

I will be calling The Bainbridge Crew!

Summer is coming!!!!

Posted by on Apr 11, 2013 in News, Thoughts | 0 comments

SunroomEven though the ground hog was WAY off calling our spring this year, summer is definitely coming whether we like it or not. The event of summer in Charlotte  is not only exciting,  but daunting as well. If your anything like me the summer BBQ’s, pool party’s, and trips to the coast sound amazing. However… the yard work, opening said pool, and hosting previously mentioned BBQ’s and pool parties are not, they are tasks most admittedly hate, and I am sure you are one of them.

Having a Sun Room addition installed is not only a great option in our area, its useful year round. It would cut down on the amount of pesky flying insects buzzing around, and save me the evening of  attempting to suck them up with the vacuum after everyone leaves. If you are anything like me the last thing you want to find is a bee buzzing around the house. Not to mention the ability to have dinner party’s on the cool summer nights…Sounds good right?

First step, admit it you love the idea of a sun room addition right? Second step make  some face-time with a professional remodeler. May I suggest The Bainbridge Crew!

Face-Off: Where to Get Ideas For This Year’s Remodeling Project (Part Two)

Posted by on Jan 3, 2013 in Thoughts | 0 comments

Put this in perspective with any other product or service you purchase today.  While most bills we have to pay come at a predetermined date (in other words, we are continuously committed to buying the good or service), if you have a problem, you will be hard-pressed to actually talk to a human about the problem you are experiencing.  That is if you don’t get fed up trying to get through all the responses the computer gives as an option, just to try to get someone to talk to so you can ask if they know how to help.  Even then sometimes that person can’t help, you get transferred to someone else, and you have to start the process all over again.  I am trying to illustrate the point that in our business, where we build a tangible product from an intangible idea, we are required to meet face-to-face with prospects and customers and share all of our ideas and expertise without compensation.  Should the prospect become a customer, then we will be compensated for our time if and only if the project has been designed and estimated accurately and the profit margin is enough to cover the cost of goods and services as well as leave gross and net profit to grow the business with.

All this to say that the best source of information today is still the face-to-face meeting with a remodeling professional.  Luckily, Charlotte homeowners have a few different opportunities to meet local remodelers this January to kick off their 2013 remodeling project.

1.)    Jan 4-6th – Charlotte Convention Center – Build, Remodel, and Landscape Expo – The Bainbridge Crew will be a show sponsor and provide a seminar on kitchen and bathroom remodeling trends in 2012.  On hand will be many remodelers, builders, landscapers, and other related vendors to help answer your remodeling questions.

2.)    Jan 18-20 – Metrolina Expo Center – Charlotte Spring Home Show – The Bainbridge Crew will be an exhibitor.  Many remodelers, builders, landscapers, and other related vendors will be on hand to help answer your remodeling questions.

3.)    The Remodeling Center – 5940 Monroe Rd – Charlotte, NC – The Bainbridge Crew has a one-of-a-kind remodeling showroom that features a functioning kitchen, several baths, a steam shower, home office, a selections room, and other vignettes that show off our commitment to quality building materials and craftsmanship.   A remodeling professional is always on hand to discuss your remodeling project and help answer questions and overcome challenges.

4.)    In home estimate – as always, we provide a free in-home estimate for most Charlotte homeowners who are considering a remodeling project.  This is absolutely the best way to get help with your project.  A remodeling professional will be able to review your plans and wishes and determine the best approach to budgeting and building your project.  Being able to see the existing conditions of the home and determine how to tie the design and logistics together is perhaps the greatest advantage of having a professional remodeler out to your home.

Make sure to make some face-time with a professional remodeler this year if you are planning on renovating your kitchen or bathroom, or building your addition, porch or garage.  And as always, if you need a professional remodeler to help you with your next kitchen, addition, bathroom, or porch project, “You know what to do, Call the Bainbridge Crew”

Face-Off: Where to Get Ideas For This Year’s Remodeling Project (Part One)

Posted by on Jan 2, 2013 in Thoughts | 0 comments

Home ShowAs we enter 2013, we can take solace in knowing the world has not ended and get back to the business of living, loving, and remodeling.  The elections are over, the world is not, and for many Charlotte families the time to remodel is now.  After waiting for the economy to improve for the past five years, many homeowner’s are chomping at the bit to get started on that remodeling project that they had to put on the back burner for the last half decade.

In the information age, where does a Charlotte homeowner go to get the right information to make the best decision when choosing a professional remodeler to design and build their kitchen, bathroom, or addition?  Luckily, in addition to the internet (where you can be overwhelmed with information or just have trouble getting the information you are seeking) there are the old fashioned methods of seeking out a remodeling professional: meeting them face-to-face.

I know it probably seems old-fashioned in this day and age, but in our business it is standard to go to someone’s home to discuss a remodeling project when they are not yet a client.  Assuming the meeting is successful, the remodeler will then go back and spend several hours to design, estimate, and create a proposal to present to the homeowner.  Once that is done, the homeowner and remodeler will have to meet at least once more to review the plans, proposal, and agreement.  If the homeowner agrees to the project and price at this point, then they move from a prospect to a client or customer.
